Rivers Assembly Urges DSS Probe of Chief Judge Over Age Fraud

By Ayomide Otitoju

The political crisis in Rivers State has deepened as the State House of Assembly has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate Chief Judge Justice Simeon Amadi over alleged age falsification.

During Thursday’s plenary session, House Leader Hon. Major Jack presented documents purportedly supporting the allegation to Speaker Martin Amaewhule. Deputy Speaker Hon. Dumle Maol raised concerns, stating, “These documents suggest that Justice Amadi falsified his age while in service. This is a serious allegation, and I hope the House takes legislative notice.”

Following a debate, the Assembly resolved to write to the DSS, requesting a formal investigation and a report on its findings. Speaker Amaewhule emphasized the need for due process, saying, “The documents only suggest a case of age falsification. There has to be an investigation to establish the facts.”

After a vote, the House approved the resolution, setting the stage for a potential probe by the DSS into the Chief Judge’s records.
