Former lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye has reacted with apparent satisfaction to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court’s decision to remand former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in Kuje Correctional Centre.
The court, presided over by Justice Maryann Anenih, ordered Bello’s remand on Tuesday pending his bail application in a case involving alleged money laundering of N110 billion, brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court also set January 29 and 30, as well as February 25 and 27, 2024, for the hearing of the case.
Reacting on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Melaye reminded the public of his long-standing prediction about Bello’s legal troubles.
“Six years ago, SDM predicted Yahaya Bello would end up in prison. Today, he will be spending Christmas in Kuje prison. All powers belong to God,” Melaye posted.
Bello’s remand has sparked widespread reactions, with Melaye’s comment highlighting the political rivalry between the two figures.
