Lagos-born AfroGospel artist Michael Olayinka Abdul, popularly known as Mike Abdul, has released Fuji Rush, a vibrant six-minute single that reinforces his influence on Nigeria’s gospel music scene and across Africa.
The track, unveiled in June, builds on the style Abdul has cultivated since emerging over two decades ago as lead songwriter and vocalist for gospel group Midnight Crew, known for hits such as Igwe and This Fuji Thing.
Fuji Rush blends modern string and horn arrangements with percussion-driven Fuji, delivering an energetic fusion of uplifting gospel messages, African storytelling, and contemporary beats. Speaking about the inspiration, Abdul said:
“I wanted to break the invisible line between the sacred and the street. Godliness is for everyone, and praise can come in any sound. Let your joy in God be real, loud, and contagious—don’t hold back; let it rush.”
Since launching his solo career in 2013, Abdul has released hits including Morire, Blessing Now, Jesu Mi D
