The incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has won in all 21 Local Government Areas of the state in the November 8 governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo the winner with 422,664 votes, while his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 99,445 votes.
The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Edoba Bright Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, announced the results, describing the poll as free, fair, and credible, a position echoed by both local and international observers.
Other results include: ADC – 8,208; YPP – 37,753; LP – 10,576; PDP – 1,401; APN – 892; and ZLP – 453 votes.
Governor Soludo’s re-election has been widely attributed to his performance in governance, which many say has transformed Anambra into a thriving hub for business, investment, and sustainable living. His administration is anchored on five development pillars — security, infrastructure and economic transformation, human capital and social agenda, governance and values, and environmental sustainability.
Under his leadership, Anambra emerged as Nigeria’s best-performing state in BudgIT’s 2025 State of States Fiscal Performance ranking. His achievements have also earned him commendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who described Soludo as a “progressive” and an old friend.
In education, Soludo’s government has introduced free education, recruited 8,115 teachers, and revitalized tertiary institutions across the state. In healthcare, his administration has built five new general hospitals, renovated existing ones, and launched telemedicine services and free maternal healthcare.
Through the Homeland Security Law, Soludo established the Agunechemba security network and Operation Udo Ga-Achi, significantly reducing crime rates. In human capital development, over 30,000 youths have been trained in digital skills, while the state’s governance systems have been fully digitalized.
Governor Soludo’s sweeping victory across all local councils underscores the widespread public approval of his leadership and reforms, setting the stage for another four years of accelerated growth and stability in Anambra State.
