Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. His arrival follows a visit to Conakry, Guinea, on Friday, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya.
On arrival in Switzerland, Shettima was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and officials from the Nigerian mission in the country, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications.
The WEF annual meeting gathers global political and business leaders, civil society representatives, and journalists to discuss economic challenges, technological innovation, and climate action. The 2026 edition highlights Nigeria’s enhanced presence with the inauguration of “Nigeria House Davos,” a sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade established through a Public-Private Partnership.
The pavilion will serve as a hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum. Speaking to journalists, Dr. Oduwole said Nigeria would present four key investment “playbooks” highlighting President Tinubu’s economic reforms, focusing on solid minerals, climate sustainability, agriculture, and the creative and digital sectors.
Vice President Shettima is also scheduled to deliver Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook, participate in plenary sessions on the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology, and hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, multinational executives, and leaders of international development finance institutions.
